Domaine la Linquière (Saint-Chinian)

12, avenue de Béziers - 34360 Saint-Chinian

It is flax, cultivated here long before vines that inspired the estate's name. In a traditional wine growing estate, with a patchwork of plots scattered over Saint-Chinian's terroir, Pierre Salvestre produces a wide range of wines : AOC Saint-Chinian, vins de Pays Monts de la Grage, AOC Saint Jean de Minervois. Domaine la Linquière also produces olive oil and honey.

History

Flax was cultivated here, long before vines. It gave Saint-Chinian's famous cloth, exported as far as the Orient, its resistance and strength. Its blue flowers still adorn the edges of the biggest plot of land: la Linquière. Thus, by extension, the estate got its name.

The domain

La Linquière has a total of 20 ha of cultivated vineyards.
To the North, the vineyards are surrounded by groves of holm oak and arbutus. To the south, on the rocky ridge, sheltered by dry-stone walls, they are protected from the local Tramontane wind and the hot Mediterranean sun. On the edges of the river the freshness and deposits brought by the water give the vineyards all their energy.

Many gold medals and awards (“coup de Coeur” from the guide Hachette)
